MIRA BHAYANDAR: A BJP candidate from Bhayandar West is recuperating in hospital after falling from a two-wheeler on Tuesday evening.
Ashok Tiwari, contesting from Ward 1C in the
MBMC elections, is a former corporator and has held key portfolios in the municipal body.
Tiwari told reporters from his hospital bed, “On Tuesday afternoon, I received a call from a party worker that some MBMC staff were conducting a drive in Jai Ambe Nagar. I rushed to the spot to check on them, but near the station, my two-wheeler lost balance and I fell.”
He added, “Initially, I did not feel any pain, but after an hour there was swelling, so I rushed to the hospital. Doctors have advised bed rest, so I will be coordinating from the hospital itself. I am confident I will win the seat comfortably — my work speaks for itself.”
Doctors said Tiwari was brought in due to blood clotting following the fall and has a minor crack in the lower back. They confirmed that no surgery is required at present.
